With a little over a week to go before Christmas, we are now offering pre-orders of our next coffee in the Highwire Presents series, Benjamin Paz's La Salsa Gesha, from Honduras.

Benjamin Paz, La Salsa Gesha, Honduras

Some of you might remember that we featured this coffee from the 2022 harvest back in March of this year.  Thanks to a return to more normal ocean freight shipping schedules, we received this coffee months sooner, allowing us time to roll it out for the Holidays.

Back in 2014, Benjamin bought a farm with a friend in the El Cedral community of Honduras' Santa Barbara mountains. This region is known for consistently producing some of the best coffee in the country so Benjamin approached the farm with a plan. The lower section, called La Orquidea, was planted with Pacas, a dwarf mutation of the Bourbon variety and a reliably excellent cultivar for this region.

The upper section was planted with several varieties of coffee that Benjamin had collected from coffee producer friends over the years, including this much prized Gesha variety. This mixed farm is called La Salsa.

Knowing he had something special on his hands, Benjamin entered his La Salsa Gesha in the Cup of Excellence, winning the top prize in 2022, and taking 5th place in 2021 and 2023. Of the coffee that isn't sold at auction, Benjamin offers small lots to his coffee roasting friends as a way of giving back in-kind to the community of coffee buyers that have supported him through the years. Highwire is fortunate enough to get one of these bags again this year and just in time for the holidays!

We are offering the first batch of this coffee as a web exclusive, with will roast and ship before Christmas. This coffee will also be available in all of our retail locations by the end of the week!
